talk about sex

Sex has become a very important and controversial topic discussed in our society. As a child, it seems like I have had sex talks with adults on numerous occasions. Whether these adults were telling me to wait, or they accepted the fact that sex would occur before marriage and give me knowledgeable advise on the topic, these adults were looking out for my well being and me. They were using their morals and beliefs about the topic to try and shape mine. Now, at the age of 18 years old, my beliefs on the topic seem to have been influenced by all the advise my elders had given me in my youth.

In college there is a lot of pressure and temptation to have sex. At this age, hormones are raging and the idea of having intercourse seems to be very arousing. There are many women in college who all seemed to have fully developed bodies, which can become a huge distraction in your education. I never really let these college women distract me though. I always figured that these are just a preview of the women I will be getting when I become successful. When I am an established chemical engineer, there will be way more women after me compared to the ones in college. My dad always told me a quote he was told as a youth in Africa, “ At a young age, women are like hats. When you are running through a bush, the hat will always fall off.” This quote meant that at this age, when you are going, through hard times, women always leave. This has really been a helpful quote to me.

Compared to my peers and the people I hang out with, I don’t consider myself like the average college male. I don’t focus on just dating and having sex with various women. I am very selectful on who I have sex with and I make sure that I am actually interested in these woman. To me, having sex means giving your partner a sense intimacy, which is seldom for me to give. My decisions on who I decide to have sex with are mainly influenced by my family. I grew up with all girls in my household and my mom mainly raised me. I wouldn’t ant any guys to play with my sisters’ heart, so I try not to play with other girl’s hearts as well.

Growing up, I've always had numerous opportunities to sleep with various women. I’ve always limited these opportunities as well. I think being able to refuse or deny women when they want to have sex is a good feeling. It makes me feel like I am in control and that they don’t phase me because there’s so many other women out there. This normally works, and makes the woman respect me a lot more.

The only advice I could give to children younger than me is to always practice safe sex and to make sure you are ready to have sex and ready to face the consequences of it. They need to stay focused in their education and let these women become a big aspect of their life after they are successful. I know too many people who have gotten an STD or had a baby at a young age and I also know that it’s not good at all.

Music List 2

1. Drake- Take you down
2. Chis Brown- Take you down
3. Plies- You
4. G. Austin- My Drug
5. Lil Wayne- Me and My Drank

I must say my favorite song from this list would be "Me and my Drank" by Lil Wayne. I like this song because of the slow beat, the things he talks about and how he says it. The song mainly focuses on the drug promethazine and how rappers these days mix it with sprite and consume it. This gives you a very slow reaction and gives you an intense high which can become very addicting and desired. I do not support what he is talking about, but despite embracing drugs, this song really gives the listener an understanding of how intelligent Lil Wayne is and how passionate his lyrics are.

Study Tip #2

An advice for studying would be listening to music. Listening to music helps the mind ease and relax. This enables the mind to be able to think a lot clearer. Listening to soft slow music is a helpful tip I have adopted overtime. this has been a great study tip for me and has played a key role in my success with doing homework.

Google

When I googled myself, a lot of related pages which said my name, my relatives names, or were actually about me popped up. Since I have a myspace, twitter, facebook, and Imeem account, all of my page links were visible. I also ran track my 9th grade year in high school, so my event times were posted on our team page and that page link was visible as well. My sister also has a myspace and facebook account, so her pages popped up under my name since we acquire the same last name.
If an employer were to google my name and see all the things that popped up, I think they would get the impression that I am a very social and athletic person. This is not a bad impression of me, and I feel if the were to view my myspace or facebook page, they would also get to learn a lot more about me. Those pages illustrate how responsible and motivated I am as an individual. Therefore, this does not make me reconsider how public I should be on the internet, because I never put a lot of things about my personal life on the internet that may harm my reputation.

Music Memories #1

Growing up, music has always been a very important aspect in my life. From composing lyrics, to listening to music; music has always been a way for me to set my mind free and let my thoughts and feelings run wild. The types of music I listened to, different artist, genres, etc, seemed to evolve over time. As I grew older I acquired different preferences and started searching for different qualities in songs I listened to. These qualities reflected upon my maturity, my experiences in life and my interests.
Around the age of 5 I listened to a lot of Nigerian music. My whole family is originally from Nigeria so I was somewhat accustomed to their taste in music. The music was very upbeat and always seemed to make everybody around me happy and make them start dancing. I remember my favorite song was called, "Sweet Mother" by Babatunde Osunde. This song talked a lot about the Nigerian culture and how mothers are highly respected and valued in society. I never really understood the words at that point in time but I knew it always put a smile on my mothers face.
Around the age 10 I became I huge fan of pop. Along with the cultural Nigerian music my family listened to, they also listened to a lot of Michael Jackson. He was a huge icon in our culture and to my family as well. I can still remember the first time I heard a song composed by Michael Jackson. The was called, "Scream"and featured Janet Jackson. My sister and I always used to sing along to this song; she would sing Janet's verses and I would sing Michael's versus. After hearing that song, I fell in love with Michael Jackson and his music. I wanted to be just like him and dance just like him. It even got to the point where my family members would refer to me as young Michael Jackson because I was the one to always do his moves when his song came on in a party. He was like a role model to me at that age and although he past away, his music still lives on inside my heart.
Around the age of 16 I was into a lot of rap and R&B. During this time period I started composing my own songs and started listening to music and paying attention to the actual lyrics and not just the beats. I became a huge fan of Lil Wayne and Mario. I like Lil Wayne because of his lyrics and how he says things that requires the listener to think outside of the box and pay attention to his style or "swag". He used alot of metaphors, similes, personifications and a wide vocabulary. Every time I wrote a rap song, I always referred to him and tried to say things that I thought he would say as well if he could. I also was a big fan of the singer mario because of the things he said in songs and how they related to my situations and experiences. These two artist made a song together called, "Crying Out for Me", which became one of my favorite songs of all time because it was like the best of both worlds together on one track.
Over the years, my music preferences seemed to correspond with my age. Now, at the age of 18, I have a interest in all of the different things I used to listen to and still enjoy songs I enjoyed when I was younger. The music I liked and the type of stuff I listened to never really changed, it just expanded. Today, I am interested in music with nice beats and meaningful lyrics. Music has always been important to me and always will.

Tip for success

A tip for success that I have adopted and that has had a great impact on my success throughout my high school years is being organized. Organization is vital in college and is an important factor in being successful regarding your schoolwork and overall work ethics. Becoming organized is not something that can just easily be done overnight, it takes a lot of time, commitment and dedication; but surely pays off in the end. Being organized is not just a habit that comes and goes, it is a lifestyle which can be very helpful in the future.
