I attended a muse workshop titled, “Manage your Money”. This workshop was very informative and relevant to my current situation. I happen to have a big problem with spending money and not being able to save. The workshop explained how most student has the same problem as me. The speaker gave many tips and strategies on ways to manage your money efficiently. They stressed the importance of saving and buying things that are needed and not just at your leisure. Thinking about the future is the key to managing your money. Another major point that was discussed included when and when not using cash or credit. They explained how using cash for small items is better than using credit for small items. Credit is only appropriate to use when you are purchasing big items such as furniture, bills, and expensive household appliances. Having good credit is very important in today’s society. Good credit can have an impact in purchasing a car, and a house. Bad credit can deprive one of many things that our essential in life. My dad has bad credit and he complains that his credit deprives him from purchasing more property. I learned a lot from this muse workshop and it helped me with managing my money.

bucket list
One of the things I want to accomplish in the future is to graduate in the year 2014 as a chemical engineer. To accomplish this goal I have to make sure to take calculus 1, 2, and 3, take upper division and lower division chemistry and physics and technology courses. After I graduate, I want to work for a prestigious gas company and travel overseas to conduct business. By this time I will be about 23 years old and I will be able to buy a house and start dating seriously. I hope to have a lot of cars and have a racing motorcycle too.
Another thing I would like to accomplish is to have a healthy diet and to go to the gym regularly. I want to have a balanced diet and to live a very healthy lifestyle. I want to play basketball frequently and coach a little league team.
Before o die, I want to attend a super bowl and an NBA championship game and sit in the front row. I want to go with some friends or maybe my family. I also want to go to Jamaica for a vacation and spend about 2 weeks there. I think that this would be a very good experience and would be nice to see all of the beautiful beaches.
In about 10 or 15 years I will also take a visit to Nigeria to see all my family and to build houses so I can start investing into land. That is something I am going to inherit from my dad because that’s what he does and he seems to gain a significant amount of money. It is a great way to make some money on the side and it isn’t very common.

Revised Music Lyrics
This song is one of the only songs where I ignore how the beat sounds and focus totally on the lyrics. I thinks the chorus is amazing and the whole idea of the song is unique. It felt as if the artist made the song for a particular girl and not necessarily for the listeners.

talk about drugs essay
Drugs in today’s society are very common. From parties to social gathering, young adults have a variety of reasons why they choose to use drugs and why they prefer using it. As a freshmen in college is vigorous and is found in almost every aspect of college life. Coming into college, you are trying to find yourself and meet new people and Experience College to the absolute fullest. Due to this desire to have a remarkable college experience, some students turn to drugs.
I grew up in a very strict household where drugs and drinking were frowned upon when underage. My parents are from Nigeria, and in Nigerian culture, children are supposed to be pure and clean and carry themselves with respect. In Nigeria, where almost everyone has the same values, it is very different to growing up in America where people have a variety of values. Growing up, I chose to not use drugs but tried it before. My experience served as a burden for me because my first time trying a drug could have enabled me to fail a drug test a job required for its new employers. Luckily I passed, but since then, drugs have been at the back of my mind.
Many of my friends tend to use drugs. From weed to a variety of pills, they desire the high feelings and tend to get addicted to the feelings also. Within my current circle, marijuana is acceptable and serves as a social activity, which enables everyone to have a good time. Very few of my friends use pills, but when they do, they use a great magnitude on vikadin and codeine syrup. I choose not to use drugs, because I see how it changes people and I cant see myself using them as well. I have seen loved ones suffer from great consequences due to the consumption of drugs and still, after suffering from these consequences, they continue to use these substances that got them in trouble.
Although most of my friends use drugs, they are very cautious and particular about which drugs they use. I have no friends that use cocaine or heroin or any of the very dangerous drugs. We all consider people who use those drugs as “knocks”. Using these drugs are crossing a boundary and usually results in failure and addiction. I wouldn’t even allow any of my friends to use any of these drugs.
In my opinion, I think some drugs are acceptable to use. Drugs such as marijuana, I believe are not harmful, but I also feel that it isn’t for me. In college, vie noticed that a lot of people who you never expected to use drugs, use drugs. The free environment and the ability to take care of yourself affects freshmen and they tend to want to experience different ways of having a good time.

Interview a senior
I had the opportunity to interview 2 seniors this year: my cousin Ivie and one of my close friends Michael. Ivie is studying to be a registered nurse at San Jose State University. Going into college, she thought that college would be very easy for her since she was always at the top of her class. She skipped a grade in middle school, which put her a grade above where she should be which gave her a bit of a challenge. Throughout her whole life she was able to overcome these challenges as well. She also thought that she wouldn’t be very distracted and that she was very focused on her education, but her freshmen year was a rude awakening. She entered college looking to study kinesiology but changed her major her sophomore year to nursing. She claims that she has had the best experience in her past college years and wouldn’t change anything. The advice she gave me was to study hard but to always make room for some fun time and to be very social on campus.
Michael also attended SJSU and was studying to become a mechanical engineer. He explained to me how hard the engineering field was and how sometimes he even felt like giving up, but he didn’t. He stuck with his original goal coming into college and plans on being a successful mechanical engineer. The advice he gave me was to mingle with other engineers and to get familiar with most of my classmates. He also encouraged me to never give up, no matter how hard the field may seem because it’ll payoff in the future.

Scholarly Article (revised)
In the article, "Go White Girl Go! : Hip Hop Booty Dancing and the White Female Body" by Melissa Campbell, Campbell explains the controversial topic between booty shaking and white women. Booty shaking, also known as freak dancing, is commonly associated with the black community. The article covered topics such as the problem of subculture, the consumption of black sexuality, and irony related to the term “hoochie”. Freak dancing has influenced many other styles of dancing as well like lap dancing. Booty dancing or freak dancing, serve as a very sexual way of dancing. The way a female is moving and grinding on their male partner is like they are having sexual intercourse. This sometimes falsely portrays these females. This is uncommon amongst white culture, and when seen, is very shocking to the black community. An African American perspective on white females is that they don’t have a lot of rhythm and that the are unable to dance. African American males would somewhat pimp white females, which deprive these white individuals of their rights. Freak dancing is considered to be the preferable way of dancing amongst teenagers. Although race should not be an issue in today’s society, race is still a main determinant in some aspects in most communities.

Music memories#2
My neighbor, Ray Lewis, seemed to have a very mainstream taste of music growing up. He grew up in Columbus, Ohio in a predominately white area. As a youth, he remembered listening to a lot of Elvis, Bob Dylan and Michael Jackson. His favorite artist growing up was Elvis. He remembered going to one of his concerts at the St. John arena in Columbus, Ohio in 1974. He said that this was one of the most amazing experiences h had in his life. As he got older he became a huge Bob Dylan and Beatles fan. Now, at the age of 55, he listens to a lot of country music and seems to like almost all the country artists.
I also interviewed my uncle who grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. As a child, he listened to a lot of tribal music and common village music. His favorite artist was Babatunde Osunde. He idolized this artist because Osunde came from a very poor village and transformed into a wealthy musician and usually mentions his obstacles in his music. Osunde was a very popular artist in Nigerian around the 60s and 70s and was listened to by all ages. My uncle remembers seeing him perform at his village and performed his hit single “Sweet Mother”. When my uncle came to America he started listening to different music. He became a huge fan of rap and hip hop and became more “Americanized”. He started dressing different, talking different, and acting different. The music he listened to also influenced him to start doing drugs and he started smoking marijuana. His favorite artists became R. Kelly and he listened to all of his music.
Both my neighbor and my uncle had different tastes in music. Their music preferences seemed to be influenced by where they grew up and their lifestyles. Since my neighbor grew up in a white area, he tend to listen to a lot more mainstream music. Since my uncle grew up in Nigeria, his preferences were influenced on his culture and he listened to a lot of tribal music. They both were very influenced by music and they used music as a way to get away and relax. They both made music a very important aspect of their lives.
My own music taste is a bit different from my neighbors and my uncles. Since I am still young I tend to look for a lot different aspects of a song and of an artist. I like artist who use a lot of metaphors and who express their intelligence through their verses. Since society has evolved since when my neighbor and uncle were in their youth, the things valued within that generation and very different. One thing that is similar to both of the people I interviewed is that we all attended concerts and we all let music influence our daily lifestyles and be a huge part of our life.

Love Fest
For my muse event, I attended Love Fest with my classmate Roberto Zamora. This event was located in San Francisco, Ca and is an annual event. Although I grew up in San Francisco and was raised there for about 11 years, I don’t ever recall hearing about this event until recently. I never knew what it was about and when Roberto told me about it, I thought it was going to be very stupid to attend. The Love Fest consisted of a big parade, a big rave, a lot of people roaming that designated area of the streets and a wide variety of music. This was the type of event where you could express yourself however way you wanted to. It was like art but in the form of a wide body of people. There were all types of creative people there who expressed themselves. I seen everything from nudity to masks, and was surprised that these action were acceptable. The most interesting thing I have to say I seen was a naked man whose body was airbrushed gold in which made him look very unreal. I enjoyed myself at the event and would definitely do it again. The event gave me a more open-minded and creative perspective on life and motivated me to enjoy life a lot more and become more spontaneous.

talk about sex
Sex has become a very important and controversial topic discussed in our society. As a child, it seems like I have had sex talks with adults on numerous occasions. Whether these adults were telling me to wait, or they accepted the fact that sex would occur before marriage and give me knowledgeable advise on the topic, these adults were looking out for my well being and me. They were using their morals and beliefs about the topic to try and shape mine. Now, at the age of 18 years old, my beliefs on the topic seem to have been influenced by all the advise my elders had given me in my youth.
In college there is a lot of pressure and temptation to have sex. At this age, hormones are raging and the idea of having intercourse seems to be very arousing. There are many women in college who all seemed to have fully developed bodies, which can become a huge distraction in your education. I never really let these college women distract me though. I always figured that these are just a preview of the women I will be getting when I become successful. When I am an established chemical engineer, there will be way more women after me compared to the ones in college. My dad always told me a quote he was told as a youth in Africa, “ At a young age, women are like hats. When you are running through a bush, the hat will always fall off.” This quote meant that at this age, when you are going, through hard times, women always leave. This has really been a helpful quote to me.
Compared to my peers and the people I hang out with, I don’t consider myself like the average college male. I don’t focus on just dating and having sex with various women. I am very selectful on who I have sex with and I make sure that I am actually interested in these woman. To me, having sex means giving your partner a sense intimacy, which is seldom for me to give. My decisions on who I decide to have sex with are mainly influenced by my family. I grew up with all girls in my household and my mom mainly raised me. I wouldn’t ant any guys to play with my sisters’ heart, so I try not to play with other girl’s hearts as well.
Growing up, I've always had numerous opportunities to sleep with various women. I’ve always limited these opportunities as well. I think being able to refuse or deny women when they want to have sex is a good feeling. It makes me feel like I am in control and that they don’t phase me because there’s so many other women out there. This normally works, and makes the woman respect me a lot more.
The only advice I could give to children younger than me is to always practice safe sex and to make sure you are ready to have sex and ready to face the consequences of it. They need to stay focused in their education and let these women become a big aspect of their life after they are successful. I know too many people who have gotten an STD or had a baby at a young age and I also know that it’s not good at all.
